Poverty Alleviation through providing financial facilities for helpless women: CRD Nepal working with different MFIs to the upliftment of women’s status, especially for helpless widows and deprived women. We will enhance their skills and competences in such fields as, organic vegetable farming, beehive farming, pig farming, goat farming, income generating training and we will assist them marketing techniques to sell their products. CRD Nepal concentrated on providing some training on saving and credit management through Enterprise Development Saving and Credit Cooperative in Panauti since 2007.  

One Rupee Per Day Saving : Since Apr 2007, For enabling the poor rural women to access saving and credit, CRD has introduced one rupees per day (OPD) saving program in Kavre. More than 200 women are involved in this program and 1256,000 NRs raised and mobilized to date independently. CRD is conducting various income generating, enterprise development, account keeping training and help to conduct meetings regularly to empower the rural women. Now the groups of women are able to collect saving, organize meetings, and disburse small loans within the group members. This program is really helping those women who have no economic opportunities to fulfill their desire of small business. CRD felt the need of a revolving fund to elaborate their collective efforts, business promoting supports and entrepreneurship development training and have been maintaining this lending from Enterprise Development SACCOS led by youths member from the region.

ICS Promotion for women's health : In the rural areas of Nepal, most of the households are using firewood for cooking. 33% of women's daily time is being spent by facing the indoor traditional cooking stove which produces lots of smokes. These communities have no any method adapted to reduce the smoke. By the use of traditional cooking stove many women, olds and children are facing respiratory and eyes related problems; and the increased use of firewood is supporting deforestation too. To lessen the burden of collecting firewood for women and to maintain environmental adaptability, CRD has a plan of promoting 1000 Improved Cooking Stoves (ICS, training and installation) 5000 tree plantation with the coordination of local initiatives, CBO and voluntary organizations in rural area of Kavre district.

With this theme of environmental stability, women and child health protection CRD has taken an initiatives to build ICS in rural community with the coordination of local organization, 10 ICS have been made in Tamang village of Kavre and submitted a concept paper for 500 ICS and 5000 tree plantation to national and international donating agencies in 2007-08.
