Center for Research and Development (CRD) Nepal has been conducting various community development activities through identification participation and solution of a problem since its inception. It is also an open forum of any development studies student by what any community cluster can be identified with leadership development, study and research. With the good co-ordination of different sector, CRD has accomplished the following activities: Child Education Support Program: With the time of its inception, CRD has identified destitute and conflict affected children who are at the need of education and sanitation. 200 students were supported by Rotary Club of Dhulikhel for 2 years. Now CRD has the plan of supporting 200 helpless, destitute and conflict affected children from 10 VDCs of Kavre district. In addition ADRA Nepal has also supported 50 students of Tamang community with school dress and bags. OPD Program for Poverty Reduction: CRD has introduced women one rupee per day (OPD) saving program for poverty reduction activities. And 5 OPD groups have been formed in various region of Kavre district. In this program all the group member should collect 1 Re as calendared schedule. The organization is providing necessary assistance for documentation and record keeping. OPD Groups Started Mushroom Farming: As CRD has formed OPD Group for saving and credit practice, the 25 member started mushroom farming for their livelihood. All the members were given refresher training for farming. Now they are able to search their product market. Champaign for controlling HIV/AIDS: To respond concentrated epidemic HIV/AIDS, CRD is in the co-operation with Sakriya Plus an organization of PLWHA. Various awareness raising activities have been conducted to disseminate HIV/AIDS controlling message. CRD also has a plan to raise HIV awareness for high risk groups including drivers, restaurant workers, drug users, FSWs, CSWs, Youths through electronic media. Out School Children Support Program to Deprived Community: CRD has identified a Tamang (deprived) community where drop outs are often occur due to poverty. All the families take their school aged children to brick factory during Nov-May. So this program will help to stop drop outs providing educational materials and school uniforms. Women Groups Practicing Micro Credit: Women groups have been practicing micro-credit activities regularly. All the members of the groups are collecting savings and taking small loans to buy livestock. CRD has been providing them meeting minutes, passbooks and other accounting materials freely. Establishment of Youth-led SACCOS : CRD/Nepal has started saving and credit activities among youths to promote enterprise development in Panauti. More than 200 members have been involve in saving and credit. |
